Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data scoopstreamzippiesfds.com collects, why, how long it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who is responsible

The data controller for this website is Turnstile & Terrace Publishing Ltd, Second Floor, Marlbeck House, 14 Carding Row, Ancoats, Manchester, M4 6QF, United Kingdom. Privacy enquiries should be sent to [email protected]. General editorial correspondence goes to [email protected].

What we collect

We collect as little as possible. There are three sources.

  • Information you send us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the subject you selected and the content of your message, together with any further correspondence.
  • Technical information from your visit. Our hosting provider records standard server log data: IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, HTTP status, referring page and browser user-agent string. This is generated automatically by the act of loading a web page.
  • Information stored in your browser. Cookies and similar local storage, described below and in our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for payment details, we do not operate user accounts, and we do not knowingly collect special category data. Please do not send us sensitive personal information through the contact form.

Why we process it, and on what basis

Correspondence is processed to answer you, on the basis of legitimate interests in operating an editorial website and responding to readers, or to perform a contract where one exists. Server logs are processed for security, fraud prevention and technical diagnostics, also on the basis of legitimate interests. Non-essential cookies, including any analytics or functional cookies, are set only where you have given consent through the cookie banner, and that consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Cookies and local storage

An essential item of storage records the choice you make in the cookie banner so that we do not ask again on every page. Categories of analytics and functional cookies, their purposes and typical lifespans are listed in the Cookie Policy, along with instructions for clearing or blocking cookies in your browser. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not restrict access to any page on this site.

Processors and recipients

We use third parties only where necessary to run the site, and each acts on our instructions under a written agreement. These are our web hosting and content delivery provider, which stores the site files and generates server logs; our email provider, which transmits and stores correspondence; and, where consent has been given, a web analytics provider that produces aggregate reports on page views and reading routes. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising purposes, and we do not carry third-party advertising on this site.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, transfers are made under UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the equivalent standard contractual clauses for transfers from the European Economic Area, with additional safeguards where required.

Retention

Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months after the matter is closed, and longer only where a record is needed for a legal or accounting reason. Server logs are retained on a short rolling basis, normally not more than 12 months. Aggregate analytics reports contain no direct identifiers and may be kept indefinitely. Cookie consent records persist for as long as the cookie itself, or until you clear your browser storage.

Your rights

If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 give you the right to be informed, to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We may ask for enough information to be sure we are dealing with the right person. We aim to respond within one month.

You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk. Visitors in the European Economic Area have equivalent rights under the EU GDPR and may complain to their national supervisory authority. Residents of California have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that Act; requests may be made to the same privacy address.

Children

This site is written for a general adult readership and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and changes

The site is served over HTTPS, access to the inbox and hosting account is restricted and protected by multi-factor authentication, and we keep the number of people with access small. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page; material changes affecting how we use your data will be summarised at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
